More Superhub problems

Hi all.

I've had the 10 meg L service for ages with no problems so I thought, maybe I'll be lucky and have no problems with the 30 meg one

Well, after receiving a superhub that had already been registered to someone else - and fighting with various help desks in India and the UK, the superhub was registered to my account and activated. Great I thought. Here we go.

Except that I was still on the L service, as proved by the downstream/upstream figures on the config page of the superhub. At least it's stable and running at max chat (9.96 down/0.98 up).

So off to the phone merrygoround again, and after a long talk with a nice indian chap I was transferred to the 30 meg XL service. Except I was getting anywhere from less than 1 meg to a stunning 3.5 meg download speed. Nothing I did with the firewall or Flood settings made any difference.

Back on the phone again and after yet another marathon round with India, I was assured that the problem (which was admitted actually existed) had been cured. It was at this point that the XP SP3 desktop I was using fell over and wouldn't connect to my wireless network (I later found out this was my fault, DOH!) and I swapped over to a Win 7 laptop. I ran a test at Speedtest.net and got a stable 27 down/3 up result . I thanked India and put the phone down.

I then sorted out my XP setup and went to speedtest.net and re-ran the test. 10 down/1.5 up WTF? I re-ran the test with the same result. I went back to my Win 7 laptop and did the test from there. 28 down/ 3 up.

At this point I thought the XP machine must be at fault - so I dug out another laptop which also runs XP SP3 fully updated with latest hotfixes. Speedtest.net result 10 down/ 1 up.

Sorry for the long rambling post but what's going on guys?

Re: More Superhub problems

Quite a few people find issues with G cards to the N router ..

Just a thought .. but defo PC side, or the win & wouldn't be getting full speed.

Re: More Superhub problems

Nope, I'm using a 54g wireless setup on the XP desktop, a wired link direct to the superhub on the XP laptop which is 10/100 set to 100 (checked and double checked) and the Win 7 laptop is on type 'N' wireless.

Re: More Superhub problems

Run TCPOptimiser on both XP machines and see if that makes a difference.

Also if the wireless chipset is Atheros go here and download the latest drivers.

correct. XP only allows 10mb by default and you need to run the TCP optimiser to change the twin values and TCP window

It wasn't me!!! Honest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blame Christopher Latham Scholes in 1873!

You could always get a Dvorak keyboard.
