Which dvd to buy

Hi i want to buy some blank DVD+R disks

dont know which brand to buy which are reliable and value for money

I always go for Verbatim as i have never had any problems with them, but they won't be the cheapest. You may be able to pick up 50 for £10 though at a guess.

This is what i have bought in the past for movies etc, 100 for £17.

These are DVD-R though not that that should be an issue and i don't know what is best but i have never used DVD+R.

I think the maxells are shipping with a Ritek Dye I bought some + rs by mistake and they were fine

I always go with either Tesco or Aldi's own, they have never failed me to date and are excellent value for money

My burner (Optiarc) don't like Verbatim disks. If I burn a film at x16 it won't play very well, yet with Maxell DVD-Rs I've never had that problem burning at x16. So it could also be down to the burner and firmware to match up with certain media brands.

Maxell -r's have been Ritek F1 dye for a while now and I also have good results

I have used Asda DVD+R i dont know who makes them

I usually use SVP - http://www.svp.co.uk/ - for my media needs, they have pretty decent prices and very good information including the exact dye used in each product.

I get a 50% coaster rate on memorex CD-R discs. That's on 4 different writers on 3 laptops plus a portable writer.

Verbatim as the dye used is a very high quality which will allow you media to last longer without becoming corrupt in a few years to come, like what happens on poor dye media...

Unfortunately Verbatim is not universally good, which is why I recommended SVP. Verbatim have used very cheap and poor quality dyes in the past and it is difficult to tell which dye is used in a particular packet without opening it. SVP is one of the only places I know that tells you what dye is in what before you order.

In the ones i linked to above, they're using Advanced AZO+ recording dye. I've never had one fail on me. Have you considered lowering your burning speeds? Burning at a higher rate is prone to a failed burn.
