Netgear WGR614 help

I have the titled router, not through VM from Amazon. It has worked fine for a couple of years. I rarely use the wireless feature but turn on now and again. Tiday when turned on it lit up and said on but my netbook, phone and DS couldn't find it. I factory reset the router and it worked fine, wireless to all three devices. Hour later all off again and unable to connect wireless, again reset router and fine again.

Any ideas what causing this issue?

Thanks

Have you tried a different power supply? (If you have one that's the same rating that is)

Could it be that then? It works all the time for PC it is wired to. It is just the wireless part that goes off by itself then has to be reset. It says ots still on on the settings but it isn't.

Re: Netgear WGR614 help

Fluctuations in power can cause parts of a particular device not to work. That's not to say it is the power unit just that it could be. You just need to find a replacement that has the same ratings and connector.

I only say this because I have a mountain of power supply units so it's the first thing I try when I hit a problem. If you don't have any other units then it obviously doesn't apply.

Re: Netgear WGR614 help

The router has worked for 2 years no issues the wired part still works to xbox, but again after 12 hours there is no wireless signal being transmitted even thought the router says it is! Have to factory reset to get the wireless signal on again. Any other ideas or is router dead?

Re: Netgear WGR614 help

The amount of time something has worked for isn't really an indication of anything. If testing the router with a different power unit isn't an option then maybe a new router is the only route open to you.

Re: Netgear WGR614 help

Out of curiosity, how are u resetting to factory defaults. I had a similar problem on my wireless router. I was resetting it throughout the web page options in firefox.

Turns out I needed to actually hold the reset button at the back for 30 seconds to fix it. God knows what the difference is

Changed channel from auto to 2...saw that advice on another forum and it works all the time now! What is that channel setting?

Thanks
