Question Internet Cuts out - Advice please

Hello everyone,

I thought I'd ask the people in the know.

Yesterday around 6pm, the internet cut out very suddenly. Went through the usual routines (reset modem, reset router, try connecting directly to the PC), but nothing worked. I know that it is not a problem with my PC, because my Laptop can't connect either.

Even stranger though, the modem's lights are all as they should be. I logged on and checked the log, giving me these tidbits that I can't quite make sense of -

Code:
Thu Oct 28 13:12:46 2010 Information (7)
Map Reject - Downstream Traffic Flow Not Mapped to BPI+ SAID ...
Thu Oct 28 13:12:46 2010 Thu Oct 28 13:12:46 2010 Information (7)

Thu Oct 28 13:04:20 2010 Thu Oct 28 13:04:20 2010 Information (7)
A software upgrade filename was specified in the config file.
I've spoken to a kind lady over the horn, she said she would try some things on her end, and voila - it worked again. Strangely though, at the end of the conversation, she mentioned that it might go down again, but not why.

The error messages above persist despite it working now.

Hope you guys might share your knowledge.

Re: Internet Cuts out - Advice please

More than a hundred views and no replies - I suppose nobody has a clue.

For future reference though, in case somebody finds this thread with similar problems, my internet is still up, and hasn't gone down again since, which probably makes those error messages irrelevant.

Mods, feel free to lock.

HI

Last two Days we have lost connection for few minutes , Vista check came up with
DNS Server Fault which is a virgin problem ,
Have been told to switch Dns servers so when my lad comes in i will get him
to enter Router and set up that.
Might be your problem as well

Router in use DLINK DIR-615 and yes i could do it but only he has the password
set up on router.
