3 weeks to wait for installation?

I am looking to get virgin broadband and having just gone through the website I see it quoting a day for installation in 3 weeks. Is that normal and set in stone upon ordering, or is there a chance we could get an earlier day given to us after ordering, or if we ring up and there's a gap due to cancellations etc? My flatmate works nights and me days so any time day or night is good for us. 3 weeks seems a long time as we need the net asap for work.

Cheers

I would ring up as soon after 0800 and you may get lucky talking to an agent, but that timescale is fairly normal.

Thanks for the reply. What number would be best to ring? I saw one browsing the forum earlier that someone recommended but now can't find it anywhere.

That would most likely be the 50Mb one. 0800 052 0431. No good if you are going onto a different package though and not sure if it would help for a faster install.

All that will happen calling that number is a quick transfer to customer services.

Re: 3 weeks to wait for installation?

When I had my 50meg upgrade the original date was about 3 weeks away , but a couple of days later I got a text telling me there was a slot available much sooner .. which I went for!

So obviously as slots become available they will shuffle things around ..

Re: 3 weeks to wait for installation?

I've just had 50mb installed and had to wait 4 weeks, thought this was a bit of a long time but didn't really bother me as nobody was going to die if it didn't get installed quicker as i already had 20mb

Sorry just read your post again, didn't realise it was a fresh install, still 3 weeks isn't long to wait, if you have a smart phone with 3G internet just connect that to you pc and use as a modem until you get broadband
