Sharing An External Hard Drive

I have an external hard drive, which i keep movies and music on. I have been sharing the hard drive with my x-box 360 and Archos 5 so that i can stream movies and music to them.

Today, i disconnected everything to move stuff about, and when i put it all back together again, and went to watch a movie, i found my X-Box is not seeing the external hard drive and neither is my Archos. They are seeing my PC's hard drive but not the external one.

My PC is seeing the external hard drive and i can watch the movies and listen to the music stored on it, no problem.

Does anyone have any idea why it all of a sudden can't be seen by any of my devices?

How do you connect to the external drive from each of the devices? Is the PC hardwired to the external drive either via USB or ethernet (if it's acting as Network Attached Storage)?

It sounds like the NAS function on it might have turned itself off...
