Virgin PC security ver 9

I am on Virgin Cable Broadband Size: L and as my Norton’s security expired I downloaded and install Virgin PC security ver. 9, I uninstalled Norton’s and installed Virgin PC security ver. 9 but now it takes about 9 minutes before I can use my PC, before I installed Virgin it was about 2 mins before I could use my PC.
There is no modem activity so it is not down loading a update of definition.

Does anyone have any tips to speed up the time that Virgin security allows use

yes uninstall it and find something else lol. I use Microsoft security essentils myself. Its not the greatest but I am behind a firewall and use careful browsing and file use habits such as sandboxie for running apps that may be suspect or virtual machines.

I think Avast did better than AVG last time I say a group test

I am behind a Linklsys WRT54GS connected by ethernet not wireless.
What firewall do you use when useing Microsoft Security essentiles?
What do you think of me useing Microsoft Security essentiles and the Windows 7 firewall, will that be good enough?

Yes, i must agree with zing. Get rid of VM security, it is a greedy lump of rubbish which slows down machines. I have MSE on win7 and use windows firewall.VM security is just a load of freeware bundled together with a Virgin interface. I also scan my machine now and then in safe mode with Malwarebytes. They are all free.The company that supplies VM security also does the security bundles for various ISP's. If you need more info pm me.

According to this test, concentrating on speed, Avast Free is one of the fastest booters, and not a disgrace in any other speed test.
MSE is considerably slower, not sure if MSE2 beta improves on that - not at the moment, forum reviews have it as slow, but then, it's probably not tuned for performance.

MSE does not cause any slow boot for me. THe slowest thing on my PC boot up is CCC
