Remote Control Help !

Been having problems for a while now with the remote or box , not all the time but a lot more problems at night. I will press down to get the TV menu up and nothing will happen or press a No button to start to change channels or the sound button to turn the sound up or down and nothing happens its like its frozen.

Then after a few minutes the channel No will come up and the channel will change or the sound bar will appear minutes after Ive press the button and the sound will go up or down. This was happening before I got the new card, I thought at first it might be the remote needing new batteries but mostly during the day the remote would work with little or no problems.

I put new batteris in tonight , but tonight is was worse than usual , I went to change the channel I would press the 1st number of the 3 and as soon as I pressed it the box would jump to Standby. When I got it back on after a few minutes it would happen again, I could press any button (bar the standby one) and the box would go onto Standby, last one before I rebooted was a thump thump sound coming from TV.

As I said I doubt its the remote , more like the box freezing and not taking the signal every now and then.

Anyone had the same problem ? I wanted to hear from others if its happened to them and how it got sorted before I call someone out to it.

Like I said , most of the time its fine.

Re: Remote Control Help !

This is usually caused by infra-red interference in the room. As it only happens at night, it's likely to be caused by the lighting in the room. Do you have energy-saving bulbs? Some of these, especially older ones, send out IR signals that interfere with the signals from remotes. You can easily check if this is the cause by turning the lights out. You might need to replace the bulbs or move the STB so it isn't directly in the light.
