Virgin wall/face plate.

Hello all,

When i orginally had virgin installed the installer (following my instructions) just poked the cable through an air brick into my front room and left me lots of cable to sort out.
This worked fine because at the time i was unsure where the tv would be and how to hide the cable (tv was likely to be at other end of room)

Anyway few years on plans have changed and the TV is going at the other end of the room so i no longer need all the exta cable so i disconnected that and put in a much shorter bit.
Removed the air brick and bricked up both sides of the wall with the cable going through the wall.

Now i would like to tidy this up and have the cable go into a virgin faceplate mounted on the wall (or flush if possible) and then connect a cable from the box to my ntl stb.

So question is.
where can i get the ntl faceplate and the connector that will live in it from?

And on another related note im also after a face plate with a coax connection and rj45 connection on ? need this for upstairs

Re: Virgin wall/face plate.

The only place you will get a Virgin faceplate is from Virgin and it will cost of course, I would just use an ordinary co~ax box flush or backplate and run the cable from there to wherever you need it,you can use normal rf connectors to do this or f type depending on which you prefer ....a look round you local Maplins would help, but Ebay is a much cheaper option, not sure you will get that coax/rj45 combined box though ...

Re: Virgin wall/face plate.

Be careful if using a DIY face plate, as it will probably have a circuit board on the back to connect the cable to, these have massive signal loss and will cause you problems. If you do get one, just get one with a straight through thread connector:

However best just to have the cable coming straight through the wall into the equipment (no joint, just a face plate with a hole in for the cable to go through). Then if you ever have a fault and you get a VM tech to visit, ask him to fit a wall outlet for you on top of where the existing cable comes in (might have to grease his palm a little).
