Sounds like Static

Since the digital switchover all my progs now come via virgin v box, my Tv is an Analogue type integrated surround sound 5.1.
The volume contol now has to come via the V Box remote control and any increase in sound level produces crackilng just like static. Turning the level down to the 1st bar and then increasing by the TV remote gets rid of most of the static sound.

Any ideas on what could be causing the problem?

The crackling could be because the sound is too high for the tv, causing distortion. If you keep the V-box vol low and the tv higher is the sound clear?

Re: Sounds like Static

It could be the SCART connections are not pushed in correctly because I remember on my old TV you could hear the audio faintly from the analogue channels if the SCART lead was not correctly pushed in so maybe it's the 'fuzzy' noise of there not being a signal

Re: Sounds like Static

On V box at lowest and TV on high it is OK.
V box on high and TV off this is when I get the Static.
Tried the Scart lead several times but other than changing it for a new one I'm stumped.
If it was the Scart lead though the Static sound would be there whatever method of remote was used... or am I wrong in this assumption?

Re: Sounds like Static

This sounds more like a distorion issue caused by the v box volume being set too high for the TVs inputs. Just set your v-box lower and use TV volume.
