We have virgin broadband and a netgear wireless router which was running the main pc and a netbook just fine. Bought my daughter an Elonex prosentia all in one desk top pc for xmas, installed the cd but there was no wireless card so went out boxing day bought a netgeat usb adapter plugged into new pc and all hell broke loose, the notebook has lost wireless connection and the new one just keep flicking in and out of connection it cant seem to find the ip address. I have red crosses through the wireless icon and local area connection and nothing seems to work. any ideas guys i'm just going round in circles here. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Starting with the simple, have you tried restarting the router? Unplug it from the power, wait 5 seconds or so, then plug it back in. That's worked as a generic fix-all for most of my router problems.
