Software Update and MAC addresses

Hi All,

I was browsing away this afternoon when (after several years of not touching my router/modem/wifi setup) all of a sudden nothing..... strange thinks I and I placed a call to the NTL help line. Which was answered and after a little checking discovered that the modem was live but the connection to the router was dead. On checking the router I could see that no DNS ip address was being registered. I was on the point of giving up when I thought I'd try cloning the MAC address of my main PC to the router side. Then bingo all singing and dancing again. Being the inquisitive sort I had a look at the modem log.

So at about the time I went off line I got this in the log.

Seems like I got a new config file, and maybe the new config needs a cloned MAC address on my router. Who knows, but it sorted me out.

Nope, both the ready and sync were on full, no flashing at all.
