So i downloaded over a Gb today n was getting speeds at 1Mb's now i am only getting speeds of 270kb's is this normal. i have been told i am capped but how long for?

1MB (I presume you;re on 10Mb) is STM'd at 75% (hence the 2.5Mb (270KB) limit.

Will last 5 hours from triggering the STM

Was looking at this earlier but do no get it at all lol

Could you plz tell me when the best time is to download big files?

You may as well carry on as you will be outside of the STM time zone after the 5 hrs. If you are using bit torrent software you should be able to set download limits to kick in during the relvant time zones to stop this happening. Don't forget upload limits also apply.

You may as well continue to download just make sure you download big files between 9pm and 10am the next morning

If you don't mind me saying, that is a very narrow view if the OP is using P2P software.

What happens if unlike me the PC is or has to be shutdown at say 11.00pm?

Surely the bst advice to give is to set the software up to avoid the STM periods?

Mine automatically reduces the download and upload when necessary during those times.

The OP wanted to know when to he/she should download big files so I merely pointed out 9pm on the evening until 10am the next morning, the OP never once said he/she has restrictions but if the OP did then he/she could see from the timescales I advised they could work round them.
