Windows Live Messenger webcam problem

Hi guys - I finally gave in to MS's bullying tonight and upgraded to the latest WLM update. All seemed fine until we tried to have a video call and our MS webcam wouldn't work - no indicator light and no sound/image at the other end. I logged out, restarted the PC and eventually got the webcam sound to work and indicator light to come on by fiddling around with the audio/video setup in the WLM tools tab. Now the person at the other end can see and hear us perfectly but the window at our end which should be displaying our image is greyed out and isn't showing anything. I can't find any other options to select in WLM in order to get a view of what our camera is transmitting - can anyone help?

I should add that if I click on the camera's own desktop icon outside of WLM it all seems to be working OK and I can see the video image of myself and the audio is being picked up fine...

Re: Windows Live Messenger webcam problem

Just to add that the 'fix' described has to be applied each time you log in to WLM.

Re: Windows Live Messenger webcam problem

I think the problem occurs if you have selected "hide my webcam from others". I unchecked this box, and never had any other issues.
