Edinburgh Connection Issues

Does anyone know what is going on with broadband in Edinburgh?

I have had no connection since Thursday. When I phone support I am told it is a network issue effecting a lot of EH postcodes and that I have been credited for the downtime.

Just about surviving on 3G modem.....

Re: Edinburgh Connection Issues

On Saturday (12th) I was told by tech support that the fault could take up to the 29th to be fixed (that took multiple calls, being hanged-up on multiple times...)
Not had broadband since 9th mid-day ish... not cool when you need to work from home to cut on Childcare.

Told I will not be refunded until the issue is sorted and they have confirmed it was their fault. i.e.: we'll try and blame the customers for it...

Virgin needs to get their act together and train their Staff... support is abismal at best.

Re: Edinburgh Connection Issues

Hi,

Just been on the phone again. Got a non-UK based call centre operator and they didn't seem to know anything useful. Told me they were going to credit my bill, I will not hold my breath....

figgyburn, every time I phone the list of effected EH post-code seems to grow. I am in EH11 myself so the issue seems to be wide spread but not universal.

http://news.scotsman.com/edinburgh/V...mer.5646788.jp has more.

Re: Edinburgh Connection Issues

Modem had the "cable" light on, which would suggest it might work. I'll try when back home tonight.

1 week without connection... I will see what excuses they come up to this time (although I am sure they'll try and blame the customer for it ).

Problems were limited to users on 20Mb and 50Mb lines only and not everywhere in Edinburgh (EH8, EH14 I know were affected, not sure of others)

For the record before the issues of the last week I was on ubr08.sgyl.blueyonder.co.uk now on ubr29.sgyl.blueyonder.co.uk. I had been on ubr08 for years. Have they just plugged us into a new box?

I was on ubr08 from July 2008 installation until about six weeks ago when my IP changed and I noticed now on ubr29.
I have not had any down time since signing up last July. Maybe I'm lucky
