Re: DVD Writer

If you tell us the exact model, we can probably point you towards the correct firmware..

WHy though do you wish to update the firmware? Also are you looking at RPC1?

Re: DVD Writer

Roy, if you have a look in the DVD/CD-Rom Drives in the Device Manager it will tell you the model.

Re: DVD Writer

To upgrade the writers you just need to run a simple program, but unless you tell us which writer you have (as in model number) it's impossible for us to point you in the right direction..

Re: DVD Writer

Pioneer will have the firmware on their support site anyway

http://wwwbsc.pioneer.co.jp/product-...html#firmware1

only the right one will run iirc its clever enough to stop you making mistakes but it is easy enough to get it right

Roy right click my computer select properties if in vista select device manager if in XP select hardware then device manager expand dvd/cd drives and the model number will be there

Re: DVD Writer

http://www.samsungodd.com/eng/Firmwa...ct_code=&os_no=

this looks like the samsung firmware. Does it say Samsung on the drive front? follow the instructions and use the oem check tool

The Pioneer should be on the page I offered previously

---------- Post added at 13:06 ---------- Previous post was at 13:02 ----------

TSST stands for Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology btw

---------- Post added at 13:07 ---------- Previous post was at 13:06 ----------

Standard I am not responsible if you screw it up disclaimer also

Re: DVD Writer

the pioneer will be a exe that will just do the job.

Dude I would buy your dvds and burn a few . If you have no problems then do not mess with the firmware

Best advice I could give at this point is if you are not sure leave it alone

Re: DVD Writer

the pioneer is a usb external drive I take it?

---------- Post added at 13:29 ---------- Previous post was at 13:28 ----------

http://wwwbsc.pioneer.co.jp/cgi-bin/...1D_FW129EU.EXE

this is a link to the pioneer firmware update. Run the exe and it will search for the drive and tell you if it is correct or not. It will guide you. Just try this one for now
