Lightbulb Linksys WRV200 problem

Hi people,
i have just purchased a Linksys WRV200 and am having some trouble setting it up i have done everything with pretty much what i consider text book perfection have gone over the user manual countless times and the installation guide even more. I have also used the set-up CD that came with the router which i filled all of the necessary information into it. But unfortunatley i cannot seem to get it working with the Virgin media broadband which i have. I have no idea of my next steps i have called virgin and they say that they cannot see the linksys router when it is plugged in but are able to see computers when they are plugged directly into the NTL modem. i have reset everything so many times that i have lost count.

any ideas of what my next steps should be?
