VM have announced an upto? 10Mbit Upload trial apparently!

apparently VM have announced an upto? 10Mbit Upload trial !

how come CF never gets to report these kinds of scoops with their VM insider connections ?, but never mind, moving on.

can the current Virgin Media installed Bronze Only (I.e. No upload Bonding) certified DS3 cards realisicly supply im assuming "upto" 10Mbit in the Northwest (baguley, wythenshawe)and other large centers UBRs today, and if not why spend all the money on these cheap non upgradeable ? cards/ports in the DS3 upgrade for such a short term PR gain?

Virgin Media complete 50meg rollout and trial 10meg upstream

Wednesday 15 July 2009 12:03:43 by John Hunt

'we're ready to take 50Mb to the next stage of development and reinforce our leading position in the broadband market."
Jon James, (Executive Director of Broadband) Virgin Media
'
Virgin have also announced a new pilot to trial different upload speeds including an upstream speed of 10meg.

This is made possible via the new DOCSIS 3.0 network (the technology can support over 100meg upstream), and is looking to explore both the technical capabilities as well as the user demand for higher upstream services.

This comes along side the previously announced pilot of their new 200meg broadband service in Ashford, Kent. No dates are yet set for when this may venture out as a live product, but it does show Virgin are a significant step ahead of BT (who are currently piloting 40meg services) in the speed wars.
....
"

so were are these upto 10Mbit trials to take place, when will it be opened up, and will any generic techy end users such as many of the people here at CF, be able to sighn up to get on the trials, and/or just get a valid working password and give real feedback in the direct closed messageboards ?

the reason i ask is simple, "Orange the VM high ranking person" i assume is still head of all these VM tials once told me they would and did poll the 50Mbit trialsists about using a far higher generic upoad rate Before the official release, and he came back and said many of the non techy trialists said they didnt understand why they needed it....

clearly there needs to be a far better tech end user feedback this time so the wider tech users that do understand these needs can finally get to put their official POV across and directly to the likes of Orange that can authorise and sign off all mannor of tech VM trials upload tests for a far better generic upload service they want to pay for later after an official package is released.

The good news doesn’t stop there, Virgin Media have stated that they will also start a new pilot to trial a range of upload speeds of up to 10Mb which will be a much welcomed bonus to bandwidth hungry users. This will give a much needed boost for applications which require a higher upstream, such as video conferencing, multiplayer gaming and home working.

It was in this Thread amongst the 50Mb price reduction and Netbook offer in the Virgin Press release.
