Is it possible to bond one cable line and one adsl line together through a Zytel) box? We have tried it but the Cable (Virgin media) doesnt seem to work with this.
Cable broadbadn and ADSL Broadband work differently in the types of modem technology. Cable always requires it's own modem, supplied by VM, whereas with ADSL you can supply your own modem.
In theory a router which has dual WAN capability should be able to speak to the separate modems.
Yep, a dual WAN router should do the trick - only I've never tried it so far.
Your first problem may be finding a vanilla DSL modem that behaves like a cable one. Most are built into routers so it's difficult to stop them interfering with the traffic. You may have to investigate forcing them into something called 'bridge mode' where they behave like a blind modem. The D-Link DSL300T will do this. Problem with this is that you're forced to use PPPoE that the router and the cable modem will understand. Some DSL suppliers only support PPPoA. If this is the case then you may need to use a Draytek Vigor 100 DSL modem. This will translate the PPPoE traffic generated by the router into PPPoA used by the DSL supplier.
