Recording Live Events on V+
I ordered Wrestlemania for my son on live events and made a manual recording as it wasn't on until midnight, however in the morning there was no sign of the recording. I set again for a 10am showing before going to work but agian it didn't record. Upshot is that as my son was away on Monday and Virgin only repeat it for one day he never got to view it.
2 questions
1 - Although I got an option for chanel 0 (Live Events) on manual record is it not possible to record live events?
2 - As we never got to view the event can we ask for our money back?

Re: Recording Live Events on V+
You cannot record any movies you rent from them for licensing reasons so presumably the same rules apply to live events such as Wrestlemania and I doubt you have any grounds for a refund just because you were unable to view it.

Re: Recording Live Events on V+
With movies you can watch it any time within a set period but you can only watch Wrestlemania at 3 specific repeat times over an 18 hr period .... how is that fair????? particularly when they are only shown when most people are at work!!!!
If I spend £15 for something I expect to get the opurtunity to watch it when it suits me .... don't you think that is reasonable???

It is not a product I have knowledge of as I am broadband support and one of my colleagues should see this and give a better answer as I am only going by movie rental.

Re: Recording Live Events on V+
Just off of several complaint calls to Virgin. They are aware some customers may not have been able to view the event and will be refunding.
As they say in football Mr Moldova.... 1-0 ... and try dropping the company line stuff. Customer satisfaction should be Virgins top priority.
Anymore of their sloppy service and I'm off to Sky

Why do you think your moving to Sky would bother anyone on these forums?
You cannot record pay per view on Sky either, as far as I know...

Re: Recording Live Events on V+
Nice attitude, he was trying to help giving you a possible cause of the problem which could of quite easily been true.
2 seperate problems,
1) not being able to record
2) only being shown 3 times
Both could be easily be limitations set by Wrestlemania owners.
With that attitude I don't think they'll care if you go to sky.
By the good look with watching their movies at any time.

Re: Recording Live Events on V+
Oh well boo hoo .
His first response was ....I doubt you have any grounds for a refund just because you were unable to view it.
I did not like the term .. grounds . Lets all think what kind of customer service we really expect.
As for Sky, they are repeating right through to Saturday giving plenty of opportunity to view it for your £15 .. not 3 measily repeats when it doesn't suit the working man
I must be right somewhere along the line as I am getting the refund.
I'm glad you can be so casual about spending £15 and not getting a reasonable service provided for it!

My post had nothing to do with company line as TV is not my field, I was posting from my own customer experience of purchasing movies and being unable to record them.

PPV events are encrypted and can't be recorded.

Re: Recording Live Events on V+
Moldova ... My appologies for going off on one, you didn't deserve that
I am a long standing Virgin customer and on the whole I'm very pleased with the service. On this occassion though I was disatisfied with what I see as a poor customer service at a very high premium cost. I'm pleased though that they have recognised the potential in this type of broadcast of customers not getting the opportunity to view it due to the time limitations, and have offered a refund.
I hope in future that they are able to provide a longer viewing time or more flexible on demand viewing service for events like this.
Anyhoo no hard feelings and keep up the good work

I'm afraid VM don't have the VOD rights to these sort of events. They only have what's called near-VOD rights, which they buy from Sky, hence the set repeat times (like movies used to with Front Row)
I never order these events, but it is rather annoying that you pay the same as a Sky subscriber for the event, but you only get a day of repeats, whereas often as not, Sky offer repeats for a week after. I know some areas had repeats for a few days and others had none at all...wonder if this is the happy medium?

Re: Recording Live Events on V+
It is possible to record live events/ppv stuff, and it doesn't require any modification to equipment. I would tell you how to do it but I might get in trouble
