Server dropping 10mbs con to 0.5mbs

Hiya all just rang up CS as speedtest was showing my connection was 0.5mbs when iam on L 10mbs ( i noticed xbox was bad connection)

Got told by them that is was a server issue and that it might take 2 days to fix?
Has anyone got any further info or had this problem before?

Is it that simple? how long will it take to fix?

Thanks

Re: Server dropping 10mbs con to 0.5mbs

I rang virgin media up this evening complaining about the stupid speeds i have been getting this week. Did a speed test before i rang them and i got 0.6 mbps when i should be getting 10mb - I'm in the South Tyneside (NorthEast) area if anyone is interested.

Anyways i got through to an indian women who said there were no faults in my area (yeah right) after explaining everything to her she put me on hold for 5 mins (good music) she came back and told me that with further investigation there was in fact a fault (she gave me some jargon and abbreviations which i forgot) and said engineers were investigating and if i had bad speeds in 24hrs ring back - looks like i'll be ringing back.

she also looked up the activity of my modem and said it had been disconnecting up to 13 times a day for the past week and she asked if i had been doing it and i hadn't been. So its clear it definately a problem on there side.

One more thing, about a week ago i lost internet for 5 hrs and when it came back on my modem activity light flickers much faster than it did before and continues to flciker even when pc is off.
