Yeah you got me too...
The joke really is on us! Not even an apology from VM to say why the channels are not here... has anyone emailed to find out?

There you go, I've just sent this...
"Mr Berkett,
In early December 2008 you announced “To date our HD content is limited, we only have a couple of HD channels today and we will be launching four channels over the next three months.”
Please could you clarify whether or not you were in fact referring to 4 non-HD channels being launched in the three month period following this announcement. I assume this is what you were referring to as the three month period has now passed and to date the only HD linear channel available on the Virgin Media platform is BBC HD.
I look forward to your response coming soon.
Kind regards
Aaron Atkinson
Loyal and long standing Virgin Media customer."

Virgin Media has told TechRadar that its focus on improving its HD service has not wavered, and that it is the negotiations over which channels will arrive in high definition on the cable platform that is holding things back.

akki007's news was better even if he was just winding us all up.

Did you like the "I look forward to your response coming soon" line! Obviously I fully expect this email to either A. Be completely ignored or B. Be responded to by the robot described in the thread linked above.

Re: Official Virgin Media Sky HD Pack Launch Date
Personally I'd rather the television companies spend more money on decent programmes rather than plug out so many repeats and re-runs using what ever name you care - like "another chance to see" when I can choose to see these programmes perfectly well myself with TV on Demand and TV Catch-Up, than invest more in plugging out identical programmes in HD.
Quality is quality of the programme, not the very small difference in the quality of the picture.

Completely agree, we want both though, surely. I think the bone of contention is that people can get HD elsewhere and VM don't appear to care!
Completely agree with you on the programming front though, it's all a crock of poop anyway! The only channels I watch are 1-4, BBC3/4, The ITV's, E4 sometimes and SkySports/Sultana. The rest of the channels are a waste of time. From my point of view I want those in HD. Oh and Sky One for my 24 fix. Sky One HD would be spiffing.

Well, I take it back. Response from Neil Berkett's email address (Please note, this is a response from his address, not necessarily him....
"No I was referring to HD channels which was absolutely our intention. We are negotiating as we speak and will be launching 6 or seven channels at once shortly
Neil Berkett | Chief Executive Officer"
So there you go. Take from that what you will.
Sorry, I feel I should clarify, I did not make the email above up as an April fools joke, it is a genuine response from a Neil Berkett VM email address!!

V+ with its recording capability of recording two channels whilst watching a third, and also the abililty to watch TV Catch-up (I just watched the Planners are coming from last night) far outweighs the ability to see HD.
If you said it was only possible to have HD or TV Catch-up, then happily remove my HD.

Re: Official Virgin Media Sky HD Pack Launch Date
Thread closed as we don't want to get an April Fool prank and some possibly significant news from VM mixed up.
This afternoon's email from Neil Berkett's office now has its own thread.
