Technology Idea

This may sound a bit daft, but I have come up with an Idea that I am certain big companies like Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo etc would go for, that would change how "parental Guidence" is being used now.

My trouble is, where do you go if you have an Idea but not the technology or money to make a prototype?

Can you write to a big company and introduce the idea or is their another way?

If anyone knows I would love to know how I go about this. I've done research into the technology that would be involved and it's already available, and the software side of it would not be that hard to do and is probably already in place, the two things brought together haven't though.

How much does it cost?

The normal amount we charge to process a UK patent application is GBP £200.
It is free to file a patent application with us.
  • GBP £30 (application fee) for a preliminary examination
  • GBP £100 for a search
  • GBP £70 for a substantive examination

Re: Technology Idea

Thanks for that popper, It seems I can't patent an Idea, only an actual component or way of manufacturing, I'm not sure if the latter fits in my catagory or not as the technology has been invented already, and the software that would work with it can be or might already be available.

Which kind of leaves me wondering, especially as if I was to patent this "Idea" then It would have to be a worldwide patent, I would then have to work on getting a prototype to incorporate into systems, and as i'm not an engineer, or programmer, it's going to be a hell of a job.

It's a shame I cant just sell my idea to a company.
