Xbox Live MTU Failed Problem
Hi
I have been having a problem when connecting to Xbox Live and the error message is MTU Failed. The error message states that the minimum MTU required is 1364 but the default is 1500 and i have tried power cycling and changing the MTU to 1364 and 1365 and i don't know how to solve it. I connect to Xbox Live through an ethernet cable to my pc using ICS and my wireless router is Netgear WGT624 v3
Any assistance is greatly appreciated
Thanks

Re: Xbox Live MTU Failed Problem
I have that exact router.
What version of firmware are you running?
(
Firmware Version V2.0.16_1.0.1
)
Have you installed the new dashboard?
I will check mine now to see if I can connect.

Re: Xbox Live MTU Failed Problem
Login to you router http://www.routerlogin.net/start.htm might work for you.
In the menu on the left hand side select router status, Firmware is displayed at the top

Re: Xbox Live MTU Failed Problem
Why don't you connect the xbox to the router?

Re: Xbox Live MTU Failed Problem
Let me check something.
You connect your xbox as below
Xbox ---> PC ---> router ---> Modem
Ideally the Xbox should beconnext directly to the Router, either cabled or wireless.
As you say they are in different rooms buy a wireless conector for the xbox seting that up is far easier.

Re: Xbox Live MTU Failed Problem
I don't know that, somebody else may come along and answer that, but I doubt that another will work.

Sort of. You can pick up a stand-alone wireless access point and use it in something called bridge mode (or WDS) if it support it. Your wireless router also has to support bridge mode (or WDS). Once you've configured both the router and the wireless access point you simply plug your normal ethernet cable between your XBox and your wireless access point and your XBox just thinks it's on a hard wired connection.
The downside is that it takes another power socket, it's not as neat, and it takes a bit more setting up. The upside is it's a heck of a lot cheaper (15 quid new, a fiver second hand), you can use it with any device that takes an ethernet cable (e.g. PC, original XBox, etc), you can also configure it to run in both bridge mode AND standard client mode meaning you effectively get a range extender. There are pros and cons either way.

Re: Xbox Live MTU Failed Problem
or try a really long ethernet cable. Much better than wireless cause you will probably see lots of lag when you are using wireless
