Problem with Virgin Network

I recently purchased Virgin Media for my student house. It was set up yesterday by my friend and works fine on his laptop. After installing the disk on my laptop aswell it works great.

But i have a Desktop PC upstairs with a Belkin N1 Wireless network card inside, which can't connect to the network. After installing the Virgin Media software i recieve a message saying that the card does not support WPA. But it clearly says on the box that it is supported. I looked at the FAQ on the virgin site, but found nothing helpful. I am wondering if anyone else has encountered problems like this before.

The PC connected to my previous wireless network at home so i know theres no problem with the card itself.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Chris

Re: Problem with Virgin Network

Personally I wouldn't bother with the Wireless Manager software and just use the Windows stuff.

I've found the most common connection problem is that "Automatically Obtain IP and DNS Servers" is not ticket in the Connection Properties.

Re: Problem with Virgin Network

Perhaps the software previously installed for the Belkin card has set it to WEP?
Try going into the settings for the Belkin and see if you can change them to WPA.
Netgear do various usb adaptors varying from MA101 to WG111, the MA101 doesn't do WPA, the WG111 does, check the Belkin site for your specific model of adaptor and see if it says so there.
Whether you use Windows software or Virgin Media Wireless software, if the card can't do WPA you'll never connect to the router as it's pre-configured for WPA.

Re: Problem with Virgin Network

Probably the Virgin Network tool, as it was saying my Network card would not work with WPA, yet it does.
