broadband and tv wiring

im currently trying to help a friend out with a few wiring difficulties and wondered if someone could help.
they currently have 1 NTL line coming into the house and want both the tv and broadband splitting off this one line, the box they have is an NTL Pace 2000. can this be done because ive been and bought a Konig 2 way splitter with no prevail. altough when the line is connected just to the modem it works fine, but she says it worked fine before and she is subcribed to 2mb broadband and tv any ideas?
