nintendo wii

ive just bought a nintendo wii ,and a lan adaptor to connect the wii to the internet ,i have followed the instructions ,on fitting the cable ,but it wont connect to the internet ,can anyone help .its a wired connection.

okay to what are you connecting the Wii??? is it a router, modem or computer?

hi .i have connected the wii to the 56 modem with a wii lan adaptor .as described in the instuctions.the lan adaptor is connected to the back of the wii console.the light on the adaptor is on.and the wii console has picked up the lan mac address.but somehow it wont connect to the internet . i only want to use it to play games against other wii users all over the world.the wii works from the television screen.thanks for taking an interest .terry

okay what kind of modem have you got whos your internet provider, as at the moment I cant work out what any of it is...

its a motorola SB4100 CABLE MODEM.the internet provider is virgin media,which used to be NTL.

ive just noticed that the computer has picked up the adaptor in network settings ,and the adaptor seems to be connected ,but when i click on repair .it says i have to consult my network manager

Do you have a router, or are you trying to connect the Wii via the adaptor direct to the modem, at the same time that the computer is connected direct to the modem? Only one device can be connected direct to the modem at a time. To change the connected device, disconnect the one you are removing, and connect the new one then the modem must be powered off for a few seconds, then restarted.

If you are still having problems you need to explain to us exactly what make and model of things you have got, i.e. what is this adaptor?, what is your exact wiring layout i.e. modem via ethernet cable to computer,
