Question Wrt54gs

Back again folks......

Two lappy's one router and one Virgin BB Cable Modem

Sony Lappy(Vista) is connected to the router via ethernet.......

PB lappy(xp, 'b' technology) is connected via wireless......

The issue is the PB lappy will only seem to connect to the network if the Sony lappy is on!

Has vista laptop got wireless? If so does it allow Ad-Hoc connections (ie PC to PC)

If so then it could be that Vista laptop is acting as the router for the XP Laptop. Make sure your connecting to the correct SSID of your router.

Yep the Vista lappy has Wireless but I have it switched off.....no Ad-Hoc connection.....


Are there any more possibilities?

I would go back to basics. Disable all wireless security. Power off/on everything. Get the "rogue" laptop working with wireless then add back in the wireless security features.

If you cannot get the "rogue" laptop working with wireless and no security, post back here with details of the problem/error messages/what you've tried.
