Internet TV

I subscribe to 12 Russian Language TV Channels, available from Simply TV.
To receive these I have 20Mb broadband from Virgin Media/ntl250 modem and a D Link Wireless Router. The Simply TV box works via the wi fi of the router. My problem is that data packets are being lost/blocked somewhere with the result that the TV picture "freezes" and is unwatchable. The problem is at its worst between 7pm and 10pm. Virgin Media have changed my connection to a less crowded exchange and Simply TV assure me all is OK their end. Any suggestions??

use a different ISP!!! My VM connection is usually dreadful between those times too and I hardly ever download anything. If I do, it's just a game patch or my email, so capping is not the answer to my issues. During the day, I get full speed and gone about 11pm I get full speed, but in between the times you mention, I regularly get under 3Mb. I have seen it on a number of occasions as slow as 300kbps.

Next time it slows down, turn off the simply TV box and do a couple of speed tests (eg the one at the top of the page). My 'guess' is that streamed TV is pushing you over your daily download limit and you are getting capped to a point that stops the TV working. (Could be wrong).
You could also do a speed test now, to compare.
