Re: Slow Speed

What about your upstream?

That has an important figure regarding speed and connection stability.

Re: Slow Speed

You upstream is abit high, you dont want to see it much higher than that, other wise your connection will be on the brink of dropping.

Re: Slow Speed

Your upstream seems to be very erratic, leaping from 55 to 31, have you been downloading much, for 2mb users 350MB is the maximum amount before you get traffic shaped.

Re: Slow Speed

Thanks for the reply Axegrinder. I have not done any downloading today, couldn't anyway at those speeds. Set up new computer the other day.

XP Pro 64 Bit
AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual
Core Processor 4000+211GHz
960 of Ram

Borrowed a little laptop while I was waiting on the new desktop, same results for about two weeks. Before that my last desktop was giving these results for months. Never really do much downloading (no music or movies) I just browse the net and email really. I sent Virgin a lovely email about a week ago. Engineer laying new cables from the green box dislodged my telephone cable knocking it off. The engineer that came to fix it told me that my Ubr (Northampton) is over subscribed and Virgin basically dont give a toss and "wont" do anything about it. Here is another speed test

Sun, 11 Nov 2007 19:41:01 UTC

Test 1: 1024K took 10422 ms = 98.3 KB/sec, approx 810 Kbps, 0.79 Mbps
Test 2: 1024K took 7016 ms = 146 KB/sec, approx 1203 Kbps, 1.17 Mbps
Test 3: 1024K took 19406 ms = 52.8 KB/sec, approx 435 Kbps, 0.42 Mbps
Test 4: 2048K took 79328 ms = 25.8 KB/sec, approx 213 Kbps, 0.21 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 665 Kbps, 0.65 Mbps

A tadge up and down I agree.
