NTL/Virgin signup through Vista

Apparently there's problems. I've a client who's experiencing them so I've got a site visit to sort. Before I do has anyone else had problems like this? I don't mean whether your PC running Vista works through NTL/Virgin as my laptop does quite happily. It's the initial signup via Vista which seems to be presenting the problem.

If the above is the case is there a way round it as i don't want to go out to find there's nothing I can do because it's a source problem.

Re: NTL/Virgin signup through Vista

step 1> throw the disk in the bin.
2> connect everything and open web browser
3> navigate to 80.5.178.26
4> serial number is ntl-ct8-cj486

if you get any registration errors you will need to call tech support.

just check that the ethernet card is enabled
and that there isnt any software blocking access.

Cheers chaps. I'll take the info with me and hopefully get them online. They're not best pleased with the tech support NTL/VM are, loose terms, providing.

Re: NTL/Virgin signup through Vista

Well that was weird. I tried the above and none of it worked. I tried on my laptop and I got the registration screen. I tried again a few times on their machine and nothing. The guy decided to call NTL and rant despite it looking like a laptop issue. I spoke to the techie who was seriously peed off and tried to point me down roads I knew wouldn't work but nothing. That is until five to ten minutes after coming off the phone it sprang into life and the download speed was higher than expected for the 2mb package.

All seems ok now with wireless all working quite nicely. Seems a strange coincidence that after them receiving a still talking to all of a sudden it works and seems faster than expected. It doesn't explain one laptop working and the other not though.

The main thing is they're working. Cheers for the help chaps.
