Manchester M43

Anyone in here from the Droylsden M43 area of Manchester suffering low speeds, or am I another victim of traffic shaping?

Im on a Samsung STB subscribed to the 4mb package and have had these
kind of tests all day, dont want to ring CS just yet as Im trying to have a stress free Sunday

Sun, 28 Oct 2007 16:45:05 UTC

Test 1: 1024K took 4343 ms = 235.8 KB/sec, approx 1943 Kbps, 1.9 Mbps
Test 2: 1024K took 4375 ms = 234.1 KB/sec, approx 1929 Kbps, 1.88 Mbps
Test 3: 1024K took 4359 ms = 234.9 KB/sec, approx 1936 Kbps, 1.89 Mbps
Test 4: 2048K took 8734 ms = 234.5 KB/sec, approx 1932 Kbps, 1.89 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 1935 Kbps, 1.89 Mbps

Re: Manchester M43

Very strong 2megs... Might be shaping.

Slow speeds may also be caused by a high upload power. Could you check that please?

Or, just wait till tomorrow and see what happens

Re: Manchester M43

Sure thing.

(This only works if you have a cable modem, and its not a black Terrajet).

Go to 192.168.100.1
Log in as: root root (user pass)

It will be on one of the screens (Most Probably upstream status under status). It will be a figure measured in dbVm or somethign like that.

D'oh! I need to read messages more :P

I am not sure then, you will need to get someone to check your signal levels. Your best bet is to try the virginmedia.support.broadband.cable newsgroup. The technician there will also be able to tell you if you are being shaped.

Virgin Media Customer Zone will provide newsgroup instructions.
