Thumbs down 118 Directory Service Irregularities

Got our VM bill though today and there are some odd entries for 118 services.

On two occasions there is a call to 118118 followed by another call to 118661.

We are checking into the validity of the 118118 calls as we rarely need to use such services at home (the internet is much better), but our main concern is the 118661 calls as these are top rate calls 150p connection plus 120p/min. It's added 10quid to our bill.

Even if the 118118 calls are valid, what is this subsequent 118661 call for ? Something fishy going on here....

118661 is "The Number" International directory enquiries if that helps you figure things out a little....

Don't let them pass you to faults. It's a toll investigation if one more of these gets trans to faults I will hunt the CSR and serve their head to my team for lunch.

Re: 118 Directory Service Irregularities

Just wanted to say that I received a phone bill today and was horrified to see that the same thing had happened to me! Really puzzling. In my case, it started with a 118 118 call, followed a minute later, by a call to 118661. I have been charged a whopping £34 for this and the duration was allegedly 27 minutes. I just don't buy it! Nether my husband nor I know anything about the call and even if we do use a 118 service very occassionally, we never ask to be connected. Therefore, how on earth could the call have lasted this long?! Anyway, if you do get anywhere with your investigations, please let me know. BT are certainly washing their hands of it. Good luck to you.
