Slow newsgroups speeds 6 meg instead of 20

I have a 20 meg package which downloads fine at 1.5meg (which I am happy with) from microsoft but with newsgroups (giganews) I seem to only get 500-600kb/s. I know other people get much faster speeds right up to 2 meg (20meg download speed) .

I have 20 connections to their european server (before when I had 10 I only got speeds of 300kb/s)

Any ideas guys. I have played with the network card settings which seem to give me another 100kb/s.

I use newsleecher by the way.

Thanks in advance...
