Man v's Woman - By the people of AVForums

I lurk a bit over there from time to time as its a really good forum, however there has recently been a thread started simply titled

Is anyones girlfriend like mine?

Where the thread talks about how girlfriends / wives etc cant tell the difference between SD and HD, how they hate surround sound because it makes them scared etc and have a good moan about it.

It one of the funniest threads i've read in a long time, simply because a lot of it is true, its also quite PC as well.

I warn you - it gets deep though - as this post shows (just a sample of some of the classics in there...)

Biological evolution has never really needed them to as the man has always been the hunter. Hence we are interested in the "visual and aural" elements of our Entertainment systems.
2) Women are more into the colour of "cushions" because they have usually been the "gatherers" the "nest makers" and so this holds more interest to them..making the place nice to live in for their partner/family etc.
3) Men are more obsessive about "detail" and "how things work" than women and spend more time on one item/gadget, while women are much better at multi-tasking.

Recently, when guiding a woman as to the best piano to buy for her daughter, she was more concerned about the colour and how it would look in the room than on how it sounded. Firstly, as a pianist I will never understand this and secondly, as a guy, I will never understand it either.

It was funny when the satellite guy came and kept trying to direct questions about how things were connected to him and finally hubby had to go and hide in the bedroom so he could have some peace while I dealt with the wiring.

I had to get a harmony remote for him so he could turn everything on. Even then once in a while he accidentally pushes some button and then yells for me bc he doesnt have a clue as to how everything works.

Right now I am trying to convince him to upgrade our 42in EDTV for a 50in HDTV.

Sounds like a lighthearted fun read.
But there is one thing I have to admit and that is the parking scenario.
I'm crap at parking, and my partner is much better.......though she has been driving for a lot longer than me so maybe that evens things out.

That was just his way of expressing differences i think and why i also included a womans view below showing up the husband as a bit of a technophobe.

Its not all black and white this stuff...

Once saw a woman casually drive up to a spot and reverse park into a gap leaving no more than 6 inches bummer to bummer - I just couldn't believe it.

My jaw dropped and she did it all in 1 movement HECK ! Many blokes would fail that test.

What does this mean ? Advanced driving instructor ?

Re: Man v's Woman - By the people of AVForums

The 'From a woman' post could have been written by me.

My husband is so well known as being technophobic that even our car mechanic speaks to me by choice rather than try to explain things to him. It's funny though, I am totally inept at changing tyres or doing the washing up , Oh and I can't make a decent cup of tea for love nor money. (Well not when Mr Glynne's watching or available anyway.)

Maybe this just goes to show that manipulation of the male is a female characteristic.

Jo.

Maybe not new information but it never fails to amaze me how many men mistakenly think that, knowing this fact, they have never allowed themselves to be manipulated.

Which leads me to the second and third female characteristics.

2 Being born able to out think the male of the species.

3 Always getting the last word.

You're still here? Shucks the thread closing mechanism must have failed. Better find a big strong man to fix it....bats eyelashes.

I wouldn't say "allow", except where it suits my interests. Allow, in this instance, carries with it the connotation of being aware of the attempt to manipulate [at least in my opinion]. I'll admit I have been manipulated by the opposite sex, which is 1 reason why I ended up so cynical.

Or maybe you just had unrealistic expectations. Gee, a woman having unreal expectations, what are the chances?
