Keeping ntlworld email address?

If someone is leaving VM, how long is their ntlworld email address kept open for?

its yours for life (the address that is),they never re-issue,unlike phone No's.

The email address becomes inactive the moment the account is shut down, it is not made available to other customers

It's not made available to others for 30 days after the initial closure of an account

In theory, as soon as the account is disconnected then the email addresses will become inactive.

It has been known, however, for customers that have separate billing/email accounts for the billing side to be disconnected but the email one to still be active and potentially to be active indefinately (or until someone notices)

i had an ntlworld.com address, i closed my account and moved to BT when i moved house. the ntlworld.com address was still active and i still used it with outlook express. after getting hacked off with BT's inadequacies i came back to ntl and got a new ntlworld.com address. I also still use the BT address with outlook express. so basically i have 2 ntlworld.com accounts and 1 BT account, all receive mail, but i only send with my new ntlworld account.

or until they are referred to the debt collection agencies for the terminal payment, which customers are not informed may be due

I had a dailup account which was binned because I allegedly failed to provide details, the two may have been connected

I can still use my old jefferson.tarn email addy (and webspace come to that) from when I was a customer many moons ago.

And I can still use my new one too.

THE FACTS

EMAIL ACCOUNTS ARE ALWAYS LOCKED FOR 6 MONTHS AFTER DISCONNECTION (SO YOU COULD GET IT BACK) AND MAY BE ALLOCATED TO SOMEONE ELSE AFTER THAT

IF YOU ARE RECONNECTED, REQUEST THAT YOUR OLD EMAIL ACCOUNT IS UNLOCKED AND ADDED ONTO THE NEW ACCOUNT (IF YOU WANT IT BACK)

DTV BROADBAND EMAIL ACCOUNTS WILL RARELY STOP WORKING AS THEY ARE RARELY DISCONNECTED (EVEN IF THE BROADBAND ACCOUNT IS DISCONNECTED)

SOME EMAIL ACCOUNTS WILL CARRY ON WORKING INDEFINITELY BECAUSE THEY WERE NEVER DISCONNECTED PROPERLY (SOMETIMES THE BROADBAND CONNECTION IS ON A DIFFERENT ACCOUNT FROM THE EMAIL ACCOUNT OR CUSTOMER SERVICES HAVE ONLY SUSPENDED THE BROADBAND CONNECTION)

I USED TO WORK FOR VIRGIN MEDIA, BUT I ESCAPED WHILST "THEY" WEREN'T WATCHING

I have two lots of e-mails and webspace from when I changed on to SACM, They both still work over a year later.

Personally i'd listen to Marge, but then again, I am probably biased.

She certainly has the experience though.

I still have an active ntlworld email address which I got when I signed up for the 3-2-1-0 plan, many many moons ago.

The account is long since shut down and I have moved house, but it still works.

These days I access it via virgin.net ADSL, I don't know whether that helps to keep it active or not though. Actually, I never give the address out, except in places where there's a risk of it attracting spammage.
