Invalid Channel Index Error

Hi there,
My channel listings keep disappearing from my Pace DI4000-N box and everything (Now and Next and the full guide) simply says "No Program Information". Restarting the box usually fixes things but it's a pain having to do twice a day.

I've noticed the following message in the error log, it is there many times over all with similar timestamps (58) Invalid Channel Index. This sounds like it might be the cause?

The odd thing is that this problem doesn't affect my Samsung STB at-all so leads me to suspect that it's something specifically to do with the Pace box.

Is this a known issue, or do you reckon it's worth ringing up and perhaps getting a new one?

Thanks in advance,
John.

Spoke to India on Saturday and the lady didn't understand the problem.
Called again today (got straight through) spoke to a nice Scottish lady who informed me it was a national fault and they hope to have it fixed by the end of the month.

You have been the victim of a fine example of an agent administering the fob of the day.

The problem is VM's DTV platform and cheapo STB's with perhaps a bit of sub-standard local infrastructure thrown in for good measure.

Rebooting at least daily is the only fix. I have had this problem with both Pace and Samsung STB's. I note it has been exceedingly worsened by the advent of the new VM EPG software.

Being supplied a "freeby" STB for as long as your contract is alive sounds great but in reality it means having to use something that is arguably "not fit for the purpose."

Probably why they no longer bother to collect them from clients after they cancel VM's services.

Re: Invalid Channel Index Error

It's weird that my Samsung box has been flawless and never experienced the problem, but it happens several times a week on the Pace - it must be something to do with the box.

Also, I never experienced this problem with the old ntl or Cable & Wireless EPGs so perhaps the infrastructure in my area is sound.

I never had this problem with either of the pace 1000's that i had (2 locations), and certainly do not have it with the SA 4200DVB that is used every day and only reboots when there is a software update.
