Need Info

Hey im a newbie ere and i think this forum is pretty damn good anyways i need some info about my broadband speed iv got the 10(20)mg package, and iv been running speed tests to see what my speed would be like and this is what i got.


is this normal for the 10mb i should soon get the 20mb which VM say i will get this month

Don't always rely on speedtest, especially the maidenhead server.

i got this Speed Down 165.85 Kbps ( 0.2 Mbps )
Speed Up 358.21 Kbps ( 0.3 Mbps )

it looks normal to me but not sure lol

The upload speed is the "tell". With all the issues people are reporting with download speeds, the upload speeds are pretty steady. ~360 KB/s is what you get on the 10MB/s service - once you upgrade to the 20MB/s it will go to 720ish MB/s. But God knows what your download speed will go to !

There are lots of different speed test sites and the relative merits are hotly debated in this forum. I use the one you use - others swear that the test on the forum page is more accurate - same as the test here.

The best test you can run are a number of different downloads from mirrors or similar. That really is the acid test for speed comparisons.

I remember when I first got 20Mb, I hit the Blueyonder gentoo mirror....hard, and boy was i not dissapointed.
