virgin media 20mb upgrade

hi, i am on virgin media in an area that i know is ugrading from 10mb limet to 20mb limet very soon. i am already on 10mb using a wireles router which i know is prbably not giving me 10mb, as its quite old now. so i want to upgrade to a better wireless router, but obviosly it needs to work with 20mb virgin media internet, plus i use macs and pcs so it must also be compatable with both these.
could anyone recomend a router?
i was thinking the apple airport extreme 802.11n, but i dont know if this works with cable and if it will provide the 20mb or near.

regards

sam

Re: virgin media 20mb upgrade

The specs indicate it is compatible with cable modems and that it offers a 100Base-T WAN port, so should be ok for 20Meg. Interesting looking piece of kit with some good features, although a little expensive for me.

How about a Linksys WRT54G series router? These are popular with cable customers.

PS to the forums.

I use a mixture of PCs and Macs with a Linksys WRT54G and it works fine. A lot cheaper than the Apple Airport Extreme.

plus what do you think about the 802.11n tech on the apple router, do you think that may be worth the extra cash for the speed, and are there any other routers offering this new tech

you will need an adapter capable also but the good ones aint cheap

I have no idea if the Apple stuff is any further developed than the draft N stuff
