Wireless: A danger to us all ?

Now I know many people will disagree with this but everyone has an opinion and it would be interesting to hear your views.

I was browsing the net when I stumbled accross two articles about dangers of Wireless and Wifi access, the use of wireless devices, and the impact of using mobile phones.

http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/hea...cle2472140.ece

http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/hea...cle2472133.ece

The dangers of wireless and mobile waves have been in the news and talked about for a good while and I don't think there would be constant research into these if there was no problem with them.

I think we are living in a society where we are going to incrwasingly make our lives worse, and this is one way that it is going to be done.

The amount of mobile masts and Wifi hotspots, routers in so many houses, and young children that I see with mobile phones glued to their ears is worrying.

What do you all think ?

Re: Wireless: A danger to us all ?

I think i worried about radio waves, chloresterol, smoking, drinking, sleep deprivation, rsi, stds, obesity etc etc then i wouldn't actually have any time left to enjoy my life.

Everything around us is a potential hazard to us- enjoy everything in moderation and you'll have a happy life

maybe he was trying to make a point...

as for wireless and wifi, it always seemed a bit iffy to me, so we have cables trapsing from the living room to the bedroom for the laptop, but I feel that little bit more secure than if we had a wireless connection. A friend of our neighbours (I've said this before, I know) managed to get her ebay account (amongst other things) hacked when she was using wireless connections...

Re: Wireless: A danger to us all ?

I just feel that if it can be avoided then use wires and make your life one less thing to worry about.
People say we will live longer but with things like mobiles and Wifi, ready meals and chemically sprayed food, etc, we are more likely to end up dying younger.

One of the thing I can't understand is why the government can't do much about it all. A phone mast went up near me and it is right next to housing.
I feel like I want to move to some remote village at this rate and be away from it.

Never mind wireless devices or mobile phones. Heavy electricity has been proven to be the true silent killer.

what about living near an airport, have memories that the old RAF mobile radar units used at airfields caused a few problems.

This looks interesting, on TV tonight:

Panorama

BBC1
WiFi: A Warning Signal

With twelve cities now completely covered by wireless (WiFi) computer networks, and many secondary and primary schools using WiFi in the classroom, Paul Kenyon investigates claims that the electronic smog of modern living can cause long-term health effects.

Love the phrase "electronic smog" - not at all negative or emotive.

I think we can guess how this program is going to slanted.

Re: Wireless: A danger to us all ?

If WiFi and mobile phones can be dangerous, surely any radio broadcast (including Terrestrial TV and Satellite TV) can be dangerous*?

After all where I live, Crystal Palace is the most powerful transmitter.

That would be wonderfully ironic. The BBC warning us that WiFi causes cancer and broadcasting the warning over a medium that causes cancer.

* Note: I don't actually believe that there is a link between mobiles, Wifi and cancer, or know if Television has been linked to cancer. Just pointing out the irony.
