Advice on Wireless Router - VirginMedia/PS3

Hi All,

I have recently upgraded my VirginMedia package to include Broadband. I am looking to get a decent wireless router that will also be able to connect to my PS3 coming later this month.

Any recommendations, please?

Regards
Johnny

First of all to the forum!

The Linksys WRT54G range of routers is highly recommended by lots of members on this forum...

I have an old Linksys WRT54G which works brilliantly. If I was going to buy another one I personally would get the Linksys WRT54GSUK because it has the extra speedbooster and more memory I think...?

yep Ive got a Linksys as well realy simple nice lay out. you might want to ask on a USA forum if they have any (PS2 - British Telecom type) problems with routers while using a PS3 as only UK importers will have a PS3 already.

(Wifi encryption and DMZ set up for PS2 were dead easy on the linksys.)

If you do go with the Linksys option I'd be interested to hear your experience as that's one of the options I'm currently weighing up.

What kind of range/environment do you need it to operate over?

Re: Advice on Wireless Router - VirginMedia/PS3

I only need it around my 3 bedroom house. I have my PC downstairs and my new PS3 will go in my bedroom. The virginmedia cable comes into the house in the living room so I'll hook up the wireless router there.
