VPN router - which one?

I am a newbie to the forum and wanted some advice.
I have a Virgin Media (Telewest ) boradband service terminated upon a cable modem ( Webstar). I presently use a Netgear wireless router WGT624 V3, which work fine over wireless but doesnt support VPN.

I want to access my local network from anywhere using an IPSec VPN and want a router to authenticate upon. Firstly is this possible and how do I obtain a fixed public IP address to point the client software at? I seem to have a constant IP address on my Netgear when looking at the Internet port.

I also want a reliable wireless router, preferably a Linksys one. Recommendations ?

I found this Netgear router/firewall/hub combo quite a cost effective piece of kit: http://www.netgear.co.uk/extra/prosa...all_fvs114.php

Thanks rikur, the Netgear looks ok, plus i already have Netgear wireless, the question I have is which IP address do I point the VPN client to? I have details of my cable modem addresses, but if my local lan is set to use DHCP, how do I find out which one to use?

You point it to your WAN address, the cable modem address.

Guessing your internal address is 192.168.x.y or something like that, so it would be the one that looks more like 82.x.y.z
