Sony RDR-HXD710 DVD Recorder. Hard Drive

Has anyone any experience of using this DVD Recorder with VM or NTL?

Alternatively can anyone suggest a suitable alternative?

I would appreciate your views.

Re: Sony RDR-HXD710 DVD Recorder. Hard Drive

I bought a new DVD/HDD recorder for use with NTL recently - my research suggested that the Panasonic DMREX75 was one of the best for under £300. (Was £280 on EmpireDirect - now £370).
Works a treat with either freeview or NTL input ( and does record off RGB Scart, which some of the cheaper Sony's don't). Even has an HDMI port with upscaler - not that I have HDTV yet - SD card reader and records to DVD-RAM!

We have the Panasonic DMR EX95V which is Video, DVD, HDD and freeview etc... and we love it. We already had the previous model and then bought this one (of course then VM came out with the V+ aargh!!).

Won't the V+ work out more expensive over the long term?

Your DVD Recorder can be used to record other things than cable TV.

Isn't the point of V+ that you can watch one channel and record two others?

That will explain what I have personally termed extreme RGB when I try to hook the cable box through my Sony DVD recorder. It's damned annoying... Never mind
