Ridiculously regular disconnections

I have just bought a sitecom router to connect my 2 desktop PC's to our ntl cable modem..... all seemed to be working well - both pc's can connect to the internet fine - until my partner and I started to play WoW. We were both able to log into our accounts but after 4 and a half minutes play we are disconnected from WoW. We sign in again and after 4 and a half minutes play we are dc'ed again.....this has continued and is getting mighty annoying!!!! The regularity of it seems a bit strange - I have looked on other forums for advice and no one seems to have a set time before disconnection - certainly not down to the very second!

I have checked the router configurations and the firewall is disabled, I did a port forward thingy according to WoW instructions to open designated ports and I assigned a static isp to each of the computers attached.

Prior to attaching the router both machines could play WoW without any problems at all so I presume it is the router that is causing our problem. Any idea what else we can try?

Re: Ridiculously regular disconnections

Both PCs are probably showing the same IP address on WoW as they will be showing the router IP address instead of the indiviual PC ip address.

Re: Ridiculously regular disconnections

What do I do about that then? And why does WOW let both on? And why does it kick me off even if only one computer is switched on? Thanks

Re: Ridiculously regular disconnections

You shouldn't be getting kicked if you specified seperate IPs for the PCs, what instructions did you follow and what router is it?
According to here it may be a connection issue. Does the same PC get kicked each time or does it vary?

Re: Ridiculously regular disconnections

It's a Sitecom DC-202v6 and I followed the instructions on the WoW website and at portforward.com. It's not the same pc each time it is either or both. Even if one of the pc's is off (doesn't matter which). Thanks for any help.

Re: Ridiculously regular disconnections

Got links to the instructions so we can dig through them? Could it be a lag issue? Have you tried pinging the server when it happens?

Re: Ridiculously regular disconnections

Sorry, not sure how to ping a server....(blush).

---------- Post added at 20:38 ---------- Previous post was at 20:32 ----------

No lag when playing game... no lag spike when I get disconnected, and I don't seem to lose my connection (i.e. the message doesn't pop up from windows saying lost connection).

The instructions:http://faq.wow-europe.com/en/article.php?id=292, but my router wasn't listed so I went through instructions on portforward link from this page

---------- Post added at 22:22 ---------- Previous post was at 20:38 ----------

any more ideas anyone? please?!
