Re: What HD Channels Do You Actually Get?
There is some more content available via Vod as far as I know but currently the only broadcast channel is BBC HD.

Re: What HD Channels Do You Actually Get?
So is the Sky v cable rivalry going to prevent cable users getting Sky movies and similar In HD, where Sky already transmit that way?

Sky are broadcasting the following HD channels: Sky Movies 9 HD (311), Sky Movies 10 HD (312), Sky One HD (197), Artsworld HD (268), Sky Box Office HD (756+757) and Sky Sport HD (405). Also available through the sky service are National Geographic HD (543) and Discovery HD (525). BBC HD can be received with the Sky dish and is in the EPG (145). Other possibilities that have been mentioned for the near future are History Channel HD, Disney HD and MTV HD. There is also a Sky HD Retail Info Channel (848).

Re: What HD Channels Do You Actually Get?
I have heard History Channel HD might be launching soon.
But I don't see the Sky branded channels appearing soon, cause Sky won't let us have them most probably.

I had the same thought (already owning a HD DVR) - but the more I think about it, the more I want it. The ability to record up 2 channels while watching a third at the same time is worth it. And I'm tired of having to set the reminder on the NTL EPG* and the correct recording time on the HD PVR.
Now, if NTL would just let me book an installation date for the sodding thing....
* Assuming of course, the program I want to record is on in the next 3 days. The TV Drive has an 8 day EPG and you can tell it to record all new episodes of a series.

I set my TVDrive to record 'The State Within' series. It set itself to record the 2 episodes that were visible on the EPG at the time (and it did), however it does not appear to have set itself for this week's episode.
Should the TVDrive set some sort of series recording flag to record episodes that will appear in forthcoming EPGs?
Cheers

Yes, I do see the benefits from it apart from having HD channels but I think I will wait until it becomes more reliable...

I think that would be highly advisable. I've spent all day pulling the plug on mine to stop it continually rebooting. Phoned CS to be told 'call back later as our systems are down'. Know the feeling......

As far as I know, yes. I'm not sure, but I think NTL Telewest use an external company to provide series links data and programming info.

The Sky+ boxes went through the same early problems upon their release (and their still not that great now, according to BBC's Watchdog programme), and I wouldn't be surprised if the BT Vision box had a few, urm, 'unexpected features'.
I'm sure that the coders (or coder?) at TV Drive HQ are busy killing those bugs as we speak.

Re: What HD Channels Do You Actually Get?
I really think NTL should post some official news on this (unless they have and Ive missed it). What new HD channels will be available and when. BBC HD etc will only go so far and NTL will have to offer some HD movie channels to be competative and not just the Video on Demand HD that currently only has 1 movie available.
Also correct me if Im wrong but arent some movies etc broadcast in HD like Father of the Pride? Ive only had my TvDrive about a week and havent seen any HD content other than the HD preview channel.
