Help help help lol. Trying to network a computer i bought for my missus so she can play the music files from mine and use my printer etc. I've ran the network wizard on both comps (Xp Pro) and chose the same workgroup name etc , renamed the comps as well but when i go into my network places (my comp is the main one, the one the network wizard was installed on first) i can see my mrs computer but when i click on it to see the shared folders i get an //Mrs Comp this is not accessible....you might not have permission bla bla bla ,contact admin to see uf u have privelages to access bla bla the network path was not found, even though the comp is visible in front of me...The same is for when i go to her comp although i get the message when i go into my network places on her comp and my comp isnt visible....its driving me NUTS...even read the giude to no avail...what am i doing wrong?

Re: Aghhhh Networking Aghhhh!!

on both machines get a command prompt up...

ie Start > run comand > type 'cmd' return

You should have a nice black command window up....

In that type

ipconfig /all (return) do this on both machines and post back the results here

Re: Aghhhh Networking Aghhhh!!

Are you running software firewalls on both machines? Have you permitted access for local area networks, if you are running a firewall?

Re: Aghhhh Networking Aghhhh!!

When its saying you do not have permissions you need to make sure on each machine that there are the same users created with the same passwords. This will then work.

Also if you have the Windows Firewall on, make sure you allow File & Print Sharing.

I especially liked these definitions -
Warblogging: The act of writing amateur, unfounded, and borderline illiterate opinions about war and war strategy.

iPodder: A pompous ass who thinks he's eclectic. Wake up asshole: you're not living in an iPod commercial. You can't dance. Everything you listen to sucks. Get a job.

Content Management System: A pretentious way of saying "text editor."

Emo: An abbreviation for loser. Emo is the new goth, except goths are still around, so it's becoming almost unbearable.

Metrosexual: A gay guy still in the closet. This word is so contemptible that even the man who coined it has since apologized for being such a douche. I cringe every time I hear this word.

Vlog: I don't even know if this is being used yet, but I suspect it will be used soon if it hasn't, so preemptive strike, bitches.
