PC ACcelerators?
I have a PC Advisor disc with a pc accelerator program on it. Are these things worth it or just some load of rubbish? Appreciate any advice

Re: PC ACcelerators?
Normally not worth the disc that they're burned onto.
What does it claim to do?

Also what are your PC specs currently? The only fool-proof way to accelerate a PC is to upgrade hardware

Re: PC ACcelerators?
I find the discs look nice especially when I am messing about with my air rifle.

yes - I don't know why I am even bothering to ask really. The machine is fairly modern and with all the aggro I've had lately I think I'd be best just letting sleeping dogs lie so to speak

Re: PC ACcelerators?
I'd suggest a quick trip to www.pcpitstop.com instead

Re: PC ACcelerators?
the worst ones are the 'interweb' accelerators that can make a 56k modem perform at broadband speed simply by using their compression algorithims.... er, yeah right

Re: PC ACcelerators?
I have heard if you spray paint them you can make nice wind chimes out of them

 Good choice.
Firefox is a great broser.
As for those download accelerators, I wouldnt touch them if I was you.
Some even do the opposite and will make you speed even slower due to the junk they have sittin gin your startup tray or the adware they install.

Re: PC ACcelerators?
LOL I learned my lesson about them the hard way long ago.
Firefox is a nice browser just seems somewhat heavier to use online.

Re: PC ACcelerators?
If you want to do a few speed tweaks to your Internet browsing, the only ones I would suggest are the tweaks to Firefox that you can do to the setup.
Ensuring you have a good antivirus and no spyware or adware will also keep your PC healthy and speedy.
