Samsung STB

Does the Samsung STB have a built-in cable modem ? My sister has just had NTL TV and broadband installed and is wondering whether a modem should have come with the package - apparently the installation engineer was in a rush and left without making it clear.

Welcome to the forum
No you plug the ethernet cable into the STB, the necessary hardware is built into it. You should have a ethernet port towards one end of the box on the back of it.

Only if there are problems with the connection via the STB though normally, sounds like the installer either didn't realise it was a BB and TV install or the installer forgot it was a BB install too as normally they at least plug the cable in to the STB for you
Did the installer leave a cable, adapter or CD at all?

Re: Samsung STB

Thanks for the welcome and thanks for the responses. The installer left a disc and a cable but didn't mention whether the cable went direct to the PC or via a SACM. Now that I know, I reckon have enough IT knowledge to set up the PC, so all should be well.

Re: Samsung STB

All NTL Digi STB's have a modem in them. However, some franchise's (like mine0 wont support the STB modem 7 so we use SACM's.
It depends on what the franchise is set up for.
