FTP problem
Hi people
im having trouble accessing the FTP part of my webspace on NTL, i try saving me webpage to the FTP but all i get is this message in Microsoft Word:
Cannot connect to the FTP server on the computer named "upload.ntlworld.com"
This error message is usually associated with an attempt to access an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) web site through a fire wall/proxy server and the proxy settings are not set correctly to gain access.
To avoid this error message, change the FTP proxy settings to allow access to the site.

I dont have a clue about what to do here, can someone help?

i was hoping id still be able to still log into upload.ntlworld.com from my browser?

i don't know if you can access it via your browser?
I'll search the ntl web site for more info for you.
I vaguely remember you have to type your username & password in the address

Lots of url's out there that show you how to use your web browser to upload via ftp. Here's one such

yeh i know how to access it, its just i cant access it for some strange reason I cannot upload my files to my webspace because of a firewall or proxy error.

right. silly question
what are you using to try and access the ftp part of your website?
you must use some FTP sw, which will ask for username & password etc
glad its sorted

It take the process you are using has worked in the past, and that you havent changed any firewall or proxy settings recently ?

It's working for me. If you use Firefox, get an extension called FireFTP which is pretty nifty.
If you don't use firefox, use firefox and get FireFTP

im using Microsoft word to upload files and im using Internet Explorer to access FTP
ftp://upload.ntlworld.com
although everything is fine now since i have now remembered which password to use, which isnt the same as my email password for NTL.
I can now fully access and upload files on FTP
so problem sorted!
