Problem with new Set-top box
I have had a new set top box (Pace 400 apparently) installed and since that time cannot get through to the internet. I had great difficulty registering the PC at "start.ntl" and now I can only receive e-mail, can't send and I can't browse any web pages. NTL say it must be my PC, the only change being their box!
Anyone experienced these problems and found a fix??

Re: Problem with new Set-top box
Have you tried resetting the pace stb?
have you tried to access the IP address of the STB (192.168.1.100 i think)

That only works with cable modems- not STBs.
Are you getting a valid ip address? can you ping fqdns and ip addresses from a command prompt?
Which version of windows? usb/ ethernet?
EDIT: how rude of me! .......

Thanks very much folks, I'll try some of those when I get home.

Re: Problem with new Set-top box
I'm using the USB converter to my STB. Windows XP Home Edition SP 1 plus patches.
I can ping 192.168.8.100 and 192.168.4.100 which it says are my DNS servers from an NSLOOKUP. What's FQDNS?
If I do get through to a web page, it's incomplete and takes about 5 minutes (not good on a 1Mb connection) and I can't send any e-mail, but I do receive OK.

Re: Problem with new Set-top box
I've tried those things, still the same I'm afraid. The one thing I have noticed is that the USB converter now shows an orange light instead of a green one. I assume this means a move from 10Mb to 100Mb comms? Would this be the cause of my problem?
